Accident Landed

Robert and I will be away from our DC home base for about a year. While our road trip out West went perfectly, we had an unfortunate scare upon arrival when R was hit in the eye with a wild bungee cord. The hook and coil smacked him, and after a quick call to my bff MD, we went directly to the ER. The opthamologist on call said R had hyphema and that we’d have to watch him closely. After a week of daily eye appointments, R is mostly in the clear. He met with the doc today and won’t have to return for another month. Mostly eye-focused, we’re just now getting into the swing of things. I’m back to work (working remotely) and blogging again; Robert is also back to work and doing MUCH better. We’re very grateful for everyone’s thoughtful notes and for keeping us in your prayers.

Sharing R’s pain. 😦

an eye is a precious thing! I’m glad Roberto’s is on the mend. 🙂 Glad you’re back to blogging.

    Billy,
I am SO glad you’re doing better. I, for one, am entirely anti-rogue bungee cords. Now if I could just convince Congress to recognize this under-appreciated scourge, perhaps they would do something about it (and see their approval ratings skyrocket as a result!).
As Nancy surely has already told you, having hyphema is kind of like having beauty moles: it only makes you like 50 times sexier.
(Just trying to make lemonade outta lemons…)

  4. Yikes, I’m glad he’s okay!

We were just in DC and I brought you some chocolate. I was so sad to learn you had moved, but then I ate the chocolate and was happy again. It was Venchi 85%, a favorite of mine.
